The Prince of Wales' May Day Business Summit
The May Day Business Summit was hosted by HRH the Prince of Wales at St James Palace and brought together hundreds of business leaders from UK industry. The event aimed to understand problems that challenge businesses in reducing carbon emissions and featured a live video link-up between 10 simultaneously participating sites across England.
IML's audience response keypads were used by business leaders who took part in heated debates, answering questions such as: "How important is tackling climate change to your business?" And "What opportunities does a low carbon economy present for businesses?"
Text messaging from IML's audience response keypads proved enormously popular - event organisers were flooded with over 1,600 text messages offering ideas, opinions and advice on how to overcome some of the problems.
Major companies participating included British Airways, BSkyB and Rolls Royce.
Popular UK Actor and comedian Stephen Fry hosted a fun, informative interactive table quiz, where business leaders used IML's keypads to answer questions designed to challenge misconceptions about global warming and the environment.
Audience opinions were surveyed using IML's keypads before and after the summit, revealing that attitudes across all sites had changed, with an increased majority of business leaders agreeing even more strongly that slowing down climate change had to be a key business priority.
Business leaders also used IML's interactive keypads to text-in their company's pledge to reduce carbon emissions. Over 400 pledges were made using the audience response keypads, among the most popular pledge was identifying a board-level representative to champion carbon reductions, and working alongside suppliers to cut emissions.
